DK leads Break Engineering’s electrical practice, bringing a pragmatic, code-first approach to commercial and industrial projects throughout Manitoba. He specializes in delivering permit-ready design packages and tight contractor coordination across power and distribution, hazardous locations, lighting and lighting controls, emergency power and life safety, and fire alarm systems.

Dayakarn (DK) Sandhu, P.Eng

Principal, Electrical Engineering

DK has designed multi-million-dollar recreational centres, gasoline dispensing stations, patient care areas, food and grocery stores, car dealerships, fitness centres, office spaces, and high-load restaurants, to name a few. His work consistently integrates the Canadian Electrical Code, National Building Code, National Fire Code, and the National Energy Code for Buildings with practical construction realities. DK also has extensive expertise in leading the design and construction of industrial control panels and spearheading CSA compliance programs as the Electrical Engineering Manager.
DK is recognized by clients and contractors for efficient, complete drawing sets - single-line diagrams, coordinated power and systems plans, lighting layouts, fire alarm risers, panel and equipment schedules, and specifications - plus responsive site support through RFIs, addenda, and change management. He treats every project as an opportunity to reduce risk, shorten turnaround, and improve constructability.
A President’s Scholar graduate of the University of Manitoba, DK’s discipline extends beyond engineering to a rigorous personal regimen and a “relentless improvement” mindset - habits that inform his leadership and client service. He has placed first place in the Western Engineering Competition and third place in the Canadian Engineering Competition. He is active within Manitoba’s engineering community and has spoken on alumni panels and industry topics.
